Absolutely. And if PG-13 wants to upgrade to R that's fine by me, but something that's conceived as an R-rated property should always remain as such and there's never, ever a situation where downgrading works once you're an R. Indeed. R rated properties SHOULD REMAIN R and NEVER DOWNGRADE TO PG-13. Though, depending on what kind of direction the story goes in if the film's PG-13 and it's getting ready to take an extremely dark and mature turn to where the rating can't contain the content, it has no other choice but to go R. Case in point, before 2017, the Wolverine movies were rated PG-13 and people felt that something was missing in those films due to the rating holding a lot of stuff back. After the success of Deadpool, 20th Century Fox finally felt it was okay to make Logan rated R and thankfully, they made the right choice. So, this shows that when done right, it can happen. When it happens backward (from R to PG-13), it often waters down the story and takes away major elements relevant to the plot.

Not to mention how successful Logan was both critically and commercially, which shows there's a demand and interest for R-rated comic book films and especially with the more edgy characters like Wolverine. Fox shot themselves in the foot big-time with Once Upon a Deadpool, and one can only hope they've learned from that mistake and error in judgment.

The first two Deadpool films and Logan have proven that R rated movies CAN BE BOTH CRITICALLY AND COMMERCIALLY SUCCESSFUL, yet they are STILL TRYING TO PLAY IT SAFE! And OUAD has shown that that's NO LONGER WORKING.

If the studios continue watering down R-rated film properties and characters, then it's their funeral.

If the studios continue watering down R-rated film properties and characters, then it's their funeral. And it will be their funeral if they keep doing this crap. First of all, it shows that they're GREEDY AF. Second of all, it takes away the core elements of the movies. And, it doesn't make any sense, especially since it's mostly shown how this tactic turned disastrous so many times in the past. If the film is meant to be rated R, LET IT BE RATED R. DON'T CHANGE IT.

I'm still in disbelief someone thought it'd be a good idea to make RoboCop, Alien, Predator, Terminator and Die Hard films PG-13.

Yes, it's unbelievable that someone honestly thought that it was a good idea that any of these R rated properties needed to be given PG-13 rated films. All that would do is cheapen these films and take away their core elements. Then again, GREED is one hell of a drug. Hollyweird needs to stop messing with films that shouldn't be tampered with all for a specific rating.

And the results have never proven to be successful when an R-rated series dumbs itself down to a PG-13 and tries to be marketed towards a family audience.

It reminds me how at one point, Freddy Vs. Jason was even being considered for a PG-13 rating. Which thankfully didn't happen. Sorry, but R-rated Horror film series like Friday The 13th and A Nightmare On Elm Street going PG-13 is both inexcusable and unacceptable.

I'm glad that that never happened. There's just absolutely no way that any of the F13 and ANOES films would work as PG-13 rated films. And that ESPECIALLY goes for FvsJ! SMH.

Goes to show how stupid and careless studio execs can be and more often than not are, when they think too much with dollar signs.

The Expendables fell victim to the PG-13 rating as well, which is unfortunate, since those films were meant to be a throwback to the hardcore Action films of the 80s. I remember the uproar when the second film was announced as a PG-13, before it got changed to an R. Funny thing is seeing the film it's obviously PG-13 and has the R-rating slapped onto it.

I bet that if they try to make another Expendables movie, they won't try that BS again. Especially since the John Wick movies are proving that R rated action movies can still be successful and fun.
