Sylvester Stallone said he regrets making the third Expendables film PG-13. I don't see a fourth film happening given how much older Stallone and the other Action icons are but who knows.

I'm sure he does regret it. He shouldn't have caved under the pressure and made the third Expendables film PG-13. Good point. Maybe they've moved on from the Expandables franchise due to getting older and wanting to pursue other projects which is totally understandable. If they were to do another Expendables film, Stallone and the others would definitely have to put their foot down and say, "NO MORE PG-13 RATING EVER AGAIN!"

He actually wanted the film to be PG-13 to reach a wider audience, but that proved to be a bad mistake.

He actually wanted the film to be PG-13 to reach a wider audience, but that proved to be a bad mistake. Unreal. A bad mistake is an understatement. More like a COLOSSAL MISTAKE. The third Expendables film should've been rated R like the first two films. I bet he'll think twice next time. And it looks like Eddie Murphy is falling into that same trap because he says that the sequel to Coming to America, which is rated R, is going to rated PG-13. When I heard that, I thought, "Not this BS again." Now, the sequel sounds like a cash grab because of a PG-13 rating. SMH.

Ugh. Just... ugh. What's with this trend? You'd think it would've died years ago.

Ugh. Just... ugh. What's with this trend? You'd think it would've died years ago. EXACTLY! IT'S RIDICULOUS!!! And what makes it so frustrating in the case of Eddie Murphy, it's like he backtracked after the latest film he starred in that Netflix had released and is now playing it safe with the CTA sequel. It's the biopic of Rudy Ray Moore called Dolemite Is My Name starring Eddie Murphy and that film is rated R. A lot of people who'd seen it said that it's a good film and they were happy that Eddie returned to his R rated roots. Unfortunately, it didn't last long. SMFH.

It's all the more infuriating because with the massive and surprising success of Joker, R-rated films are clearly in vogue.

Indeed, we can only hope. I hope Joker is the beginning of something good and much-needed in the industry.

Indeed, we can only hope. I hope Joker is the beginning of something good and much-needed in the industry. I hope so, too. Hollyweird would have to be crazy not to take the success of this film into consideration and start doing more good quality, profitable R rated films in the future. The film is breaking all kinds of records as we speak, even for an R rated film. It's almost at $800 million worldwide and it's projected to hit over $900 million or even a $1 billion! That should tell you something.

That's incredible, I didn't expect it to be so successful but I'm so happy to see it is. It was just the right film to spice up the current state of comic book films.

That's incredible, I didn't expect it to be so successful but I'm so happy to see it is. It was just the right film to spice up the current state of comic book films. None of us expected it to be THIS SUCCESSFUL. It's AMAZING! And you're absolutely right that it was the right movie to show up in the current state of comic book films. We need to have more of a variety of comic book films with different content that goes with different ratings. The first two Deadpool movies showed that there's a market for R rated comic book movies and the PG-13 rated Once Upon a Deadpool kind of dampened it since they tried to appeal to younger audiences when they shouldn't have. But Joker brought that interest for R rated comic book films back. Btw, I'm actually planning on seeing it again this weekend.

Both audiences and fans alike want to see these edgy characters treated with respect and dignity, and not dumbed down for mass appeal. I think with characters like Deadpool and Joker when they're allowed to be unrestrained it only entices the audience more to want to see their films.
I may see Joker again as well. I'm very happy for the success and to have contributed to it. For me it's raised the bar for DC's films.

Deadpool and Joker are two perfect examples of two films about characters that are unrestrained to the point where they entice the audiences (even, curiously, younger audiences) to come back for more. You should totally see the film again. I saw it again yesterday and I enjoyed it as much as I did the first time. Plus, I noticed more things this time around that made it more worthwhile. You're absolutely right that it definitely raised the bar for DC Comics films. Nobody thought that in a million years that an artsy independent film partially based on a comic book character with a budget of about $55 million and with an R rating would become a BEASTLY BLOCKBUSTER.

This movie was a much-needed breath of fresh air both for comic book films as well as DC films. After how wildly uneven the DCEU has been they finally scored a major home run (even if Joker isn't exactly part of the DCEU).
