This really existed, right? Or am I just imagining it?

I feel old remembering that cartoon. It surprisingly wasn't too bad once you got over they made a kid-friendly animated series spun off from an ultra-violent R-rated movie. I'd steer clear of the wretched Alpha Commando one, though.

Goes to show what a very different time the 80s and 90s was when film series like this got cartoons and merchandise aimed at kids.

There was one for Conan the Barbarian, but strangely it wasn't done until 10 years after the 1982 film and 8 years after the sequel Conan the Destroyer.

There was one for Aliens planned as well called Operation Aliens that almost aired. It's yet to see the light of day though images of it have surfaced.

You just gotta love the 80s where irony was in your faces when it comes to targeting young children by turning hard R films into kid-friendly Saturday morning cartoons.

If they were aimed at adult audiences and done in a similar style as the old HBO Spawn animated series, both could turn out good. And I'd wager a lot could actually be explored in adult-oriented animated shows for both.

And I'd wager a lot could actually be explored in adult-oriented animated shows for both. Absolutely!!! If they did those like that, that would be totally cool! Also, I wish HBO would bring back the Spawn animated series. Even though I was way too young to see it, I'd seen a few episodes with my mother and I thought that it was cool, then.

I caught some of the HBO Spawn animated series. Very graphic and transgressive from my memory. It was awesome how they didn't neuter the Spawn character like that. Much like Deadpool, he just doesn't work when he's made more family-friendly.

Much like Deadpool, he just doesn't work when he's made more family-friendly. You said it!!! That is an example of an adaptation based upon a mature comic book and character done right! And yes, I also remember that the show was graphic, transgressive, and at times, very creepy. But I loved every minute of it. Then again, I also loved(and still love) watching TFTC as a child which came on the same channel. Lol! Thank goodness, from what I've heard but I'm very cautious about, that the upcoming Spawn film is gearing to be rated R. Still, I don't know if it'll remain R. Especially after two certain Marvel comic book characters whose balls were removed for the sake of PG-13. Also, though I could be mistaken, the original Spawn film that came out in the late 90s was also supposed to be R but was released as PG-13. Admittedly, I still enjoyed the film. In fact, it was that film that drove me to watch and enjoy the HBO animated show.
