The original Creepshow is one of my favorite Horror films and I also quite like the sequel, Creepshow 2. Never seen the unofficial and unauthorized Creepshow 3 which from what I've heard (and the footage I've seen) is apparently absolutely terrible. Creepshow was heavily influenced by the EC Horror comics of the 1950s and the original movie is notable for how it visually replicates the look and style of those vintage Horror comics. It got a TV series which airs on Shudder and AMC. It premieres tonight on AMC at 10 PM, I have my DVR set to record. The TV show is also hitting Blu-ray on May 19th and I'm eager to add it to my collection.
Any Creepshow fans? I always felt it made for a nice companion piece to TFTC.

Yes I’m a Creepshow fan. The Crate was my favorite story

The Crate is my favorite as well. A lot of fans often cite it as such.

I finished watching the debut episode of the TV show and it was awesome. Definitely a worthy successor to both the films and TFTC. I'm so eager for the rest of the show, now.

The release date for the Blu-ray has been pushed up to June 2nd, just a few days before my birthday. Not too upset really, given that it gives more time to save up for it.

I finished watching the whole first season over the past couple of days after getting the Blu-ray release (how awesome to finally get them uncensored without the annoying dubbing over the F-bomb as on AMC). Really enjoyed the season overall and it's a worthy successor not just to the two 80s films but also anthologies like TFTC. Definitely comes highly recommended and I'm eager for Season 2.
My favorite segments from the first season are The Finger, Bad Wolf Down, Gray Matter, The Companion and Skincrawlers. Not necessarily in that order.

Even though I actually like Creepshow 2 better, this film is phenomenal. Some of my favorite stories are "The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verill", "The Crate", and "They're Creeping Up On You".
Concerning Creepshow 3, I've seen a video reviewing the film and it showed some clips from the film. It looks AWFUL.

Creepshow 3 isn't considered official or canonical, for a very good reason.

Creepshow 3 isn't considered official or canonical, for a very good reason. Exactly. This film doesn't hold a candle to the first two films at all.

The Tales From The Darkside movie is often considered by many fans to be the actual Creepshow 3. Moreso since the Cat From Hell segment (which is very EC-like) was originally planned for Creepshow 2, but scrapped for budget reasons. It's a far more worthy successor in any case.

Tales from the Darkside: The Movie is basically the "real" Creepshow 3. I had no idea that the "Cat from Hell" segment was originally planned for Creepshow 2. Wow! Also, the first segment, "Lot 249", feels very EC-like as well.

The TFTD movie came out right around the time the TFTC show was getting big, and it definitely seems to have influenced it in some regards. Such a shame the TFTD movie's planned sequel never happened. I'm hopeful the segments planned for it get adapted for the Creepshow show.

The film came out in 1990 which is a year after TFTC had aired. Yes, it's a shame that TFTD didn't have a sequel. Unfortunately, horror anthology movies tend to not do so well at the box office which sucks. There are a lot of good horror anthology films with the Creepshow, Creepshow 2, and Tales from the Darkside: The Movie being some examples. It's great that Shudder has picked up Creepshow as a TV series and after seeing the promos, it looks genuinely creepy and interesting.

The show is on Blu-ray now, so if you own a Blu-ray player you can view it. Well worth it. It feels like a worthy successor not just to the first two films, but also classic anthology shows like both TFTC and TFTD.
