Joel Schumacher died today at the age of 80 from cancer. R.I.P. I know he was often hated for Batman & Robin (which I'm certainly not a fan of), but he made plenty of other really good movies in his career that made that misstep easily forgivable. Between The Lost Boys, Falling Down, The Client and 8MM, he made his share of good films. Sad he's gone and another victim of this awful year.

I was just about to post this you beat me to it. Yeah I grew up with a lot of his films. I know most know him for Lost Boys but my favorite film of his is Falling Down. I like Lost Boys but don’t love it. Fright Night and Near Dark are my favorite vampire films. I remember when I was younger my younger sister loved watching St Elmos Fire which was a brat pack 80s movie. Flatliners was pretty good and eerie

The Client and A Time to Kill were also two good John Grisham adaptations he did

The Client is a very good film, never saw A Time To Kill. I honestly don't even mind Batman Forever all that much, despite it's problems.

Batman Forever and Batman and Robin are so campy and ridiculous but in some odd way it’s nostalgic for me. I loved the Burton films because they were dark so I was very disappointed in Forever but I rewatched it a few months ago and enjoyed it even though it’s still pretty bad lol. You should check out A Time to Kill if you get a chance

I think you meant Batman & Robin there, Batman Returns was one of the two directed by Burton. Batman Forever has flaws but I've got a lot of nostalgia for it, so it's hard for me to totally dislike.
I'll give ATTK a look, someday. He was a truly good director once you looked past Batman & Robin, which he never quite was able to completely wash the stink away.

Say what you will about his Batman work, Bad Company, etc., but he did have some talent. I liked Falling Down.

It's been so long since I last watched Falling Down but have been meaning to. It's excellent from my memory.
