This time of year makes me really miss the 90’s. Thanksgiving and Christmas back the going to the city to see the tree, Christmas show, shopping etc was always excitement by. Nowadays people never want to go to the city anymore.

I miss New Years in the 90’s. Went to the city a few times but mainly used to go out to restaurants that don’t exist anymore or my godfathers house in Massachusetts where he had a big heated indoor pool. Miss those times

I was living in NYC for the bulk of the 90s and remember how crazy the New Year's festivals were.

Yes it was crazy but fun. Now NYC is awful even before the pandemic. Part of the reason I’m moving my family to Florida this summer

I'll say even before the pandemic I would never want to be anywhere near Times Square on NYE, but now with the pandemic that area seems like it'll be a major COVID breeding ground.

Not just Covid it’s become the Wild West down there. My brother in law is a cop who works in the city and my other brother in law works is in the city and it’s dangerous like it was in the 70’s. It’s really sad

That's sad and scary to hear.
Hard to believe 2022 is going to mark 30 years since 1992 and 25 since 1997. I remember 1997 very well and have a decent memory of 1992. Both seminal years of the decade for sure.

Yes both great years for me too. 97 I entered high school and 92 was a fun year that I remember.

I sadly don't much remember 1990/1991 as I was so young during both years, but 1992 I developed a better memory. I have some good memories of that year, like watching Nickelodeon for the first time and being hooked from then on.

I have most fondness for 1993, 1995, 1997 and 1998. All really good years, for the most part.

When you would rent vhs tapes in the 90’s would you go to big video store outlet or a local video store? For me I had Blockbuster near me BUTi honestly wouldn’t go there too much. My local video store was a few blocks away from my house and even though it was smaller they always had what I was looking for. Plus they made great popcorn 😃

I recall back in the day we rented from Blockbuster but also independent stores. The latter usually had more obscure and under the radar titles.

Yeah I also rented from both but it’s true that the local video store had the obscure titles and you could often find hidden gems. I drive past the site of my old video store in the way to work the other day and it’s now a cafe. The Blockbuster is now a Wells Fargo Bank 😂
