Seems like Zack Snyder is a man of his word. He indicated a few months ago that his cut of Justice League is going to be rated R due to things like Batman saying the f word and Steppenwolf hacking people to pieces. On Wednesday of this week, it was officially confirmed by the MPAA that the Snyder cut of JL is rated R for violence and some language. Interesting.
On one hand, I'm a little baffled because this is the Justice League we're talking about. The Justice League is known to be suitable for just about everyone. From children to teenagers to adults love the Justice League. Unless I'm missing some versions, they've always been aimed at all audiences. This is kind of shutting out the younger fans who might want to see the film.
Yet, on the other hand, I'm excited because this version of the film will probably take not only the Justice League, but also superhero and comic book films to the next level in terms of not holding back on content and material. Especially since, even though that version was never release into theaters, the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Snyder cut was rated R. I could be wrong but I think that Zack Snyder saw how successful Joker became and was inspired to redo JL. Heck, in one of the images for this version, they had Jared Leto back as the Joker but this time, he seemed to look a little similar to Joaquin Phoenix's Joker even though the picture was blurry except for the Joker card he was presenting.
It remains to be seen whether this version of JL will be good. I hope so. But time will tell.
What do you guys think?

It's surprising yet cool news to me. I'm hoping this version of the film is an improvement over the 2017 version, which while not a terrible film I remember being very underwhelmed by. Underwhelming not being a word I think should be used to describe the Justice League. Here's to hoping this is the proper, good version of the film.

I happen to like the 2017 film just fine. It's just that it could've been better. I hope that this version improves it.

It'd be cool for more R-rated comic book and superhero films to become a thing again. Between the likes of Logan and both Deadpool films maybe they just might be.

The Deadpool films and Logan have proven that adults love watching comic book and superhero films as well. And don't forget Joker.

Joker as well. There's both an interest and a demand for more R-rated comic book films.

Absolutely. At this point, movie studios should balance out the amount of PG rated comic book films and PG-13 rated comic book films with the R rated comic book films.

Not to mention characters that should never even be attempted without an R-rating to properly portray them (looking at you, Venom).

Those ice and winter storms that happened distracted me, and my family and I were making sure our household was running properly. I absolutely agree! There are certain characters that ultimately wouldn't work with a lower rating like PG-13 or PG. In fact, I just heard that Kevin Feige for some stupid ass reason decided to make Deadpool the MCU's only R rated property. Meaning that any future Blade films will be PG-13. And people aren't happy. Hollyweird never learn.

No worries. Hope you and your loved ones are all safe. Frightening times we live in between this pandemic and the storms.
A PG-13 Blade? Ugh. I don't even know what to say. I see no reason the MCU couldn't have a sub-series of films aimed at mature audiences, with the more hard-edged characters like Blade, Deadpool, Venom, etc. I bet Disney has a lot to do with this.
