Anybody else remember this true crime series on A@E in the 2007-12 years? It was basically 3 different stories people telling their story of survival. There werent even re-enactments which honestly made it more effective because you had to use your mind to visualize how horrific their situations were. Many stories were pretty dark and downbeat but obviously with happy endings. I’ve always found real life horror stories much scarier for obvious reasons but this really was a great series. I highly recommend looking it up if you haven’t seen it.

I believe I've seen a few episodes of this. Many of the stories were very harrowing and disturbing to hear.

Absolutely. Certain cases were not only harrowing but made you think “How in the world did this person possibly survive this?”

You also realize that anything can happen to anyone at anytime.

It reminds me how my mother got mugged at gunpoint back in 2017. That was so frightening and to think I could've lost her that night. I'm grateful that she survived and that her attacker got caught not even a day later as he made the stupid mistake to take her phone, not realizing the police would be able to trace him like that.

Damn I’m so sorry about that. I’m glad your mother is ok and they caught the guy. My wife and I went through a scary incident last summer when we were harassed and threatened by “protestors”

It's all the more scary considering the mugger was actually high on some drugs too, meaning he could've accidently discharged his gun. It's scary how these things can happen to you without warning. Safety is something you take for granted everyday without realizing it.

Yes that is scary. Sadly many of those I survived stories are victims of criminals being high or just twisted

He was recently released on parole. I wish he'd still be in prison but as long as he doesn't attempt to harm my mother or I or send any accompliches after us.

So far so good and I hope it stays that way. I still hate the fact he's a free man after what he did.

I’ve been rewatching these with my wife and i forgot how powerful many of these stories are. I think the way they show they was much more effective. Instead of showing re-enactments like the ID channel does we simply just hear them speaking with a dark backround behind them. I’ve always felt it’s what you don’t see is more terrifying and emotionally effective. So just hearing their words and facial expressions is why I feel this is one of the better true crime/survival shows.

Yeah, what you imagine in your mind a lot of the time is far more effective than visuals, though visuals provide an easier understanding of what went down.

Watched a few more episodes lately and the stories really are incredible. One of the stories was about a woman with 3 others in the ocean whose boat capsizes and are forced to swim to shore after the current pushes them pretty far out. They were in shark infested waters and another woman who couldn’t swim sadly was attacked and killed by sharks. The main woman witnessed the whole thing but had no choice but to keep swimming even getting bumped by a few sharks along the way. I can’t imagine being in that situation
