That's so scary. Real-life is always so much more frightening than fiction.

Absolutely. I’ve told my story on here about 9/11. Some people have described it as a real life disaster movie but i anyways hated that analogy. As somebody who witnessed it I can tell you it was much more horrifying as any horror movie could possibly be. The sounds, smell, and images I saw are still tough to really describe

I had relatives living there at the time and they described the smell of the burning/rotting flesh that filled the city for months, and my cousin lived not far from there at the time and witnessed the towers collapsing. He couldn't sleep for a number of days as a result.

Yeah I try not to get too graphic when talking about but I sadly saw at least 20 people fall to their death as well as the sound of their body hitting the pavement or awning.

I'm sorry you had to experience that, can't imagine how awful. It was unreal to awake that morning to the news coverage and see the attacks.

Thank you. The crazy thing about it is how normal a morning it was. It had rained very hard the night before but it was a beautiful morning. I also remember people being very cheery especially on the subway which is unusual. I was eating a bagel with a few coworkers outside and it was pretty calm even for the city. Then all of a sudden I hear the roar of a plane engine, looked up and BOOM. For a second we thought the whole too half of the building was falling on top of us and we ran.

That sounds like a nightmare that's become all too real. I remember how somber the nation's mood was in the days and weeks after the attacks. Still unreal to think it'll be 20 years since.

Yes it’s not something I’ve talked about much but I guess with the 20th anniversary coming up it’s been in the mind. Every few years I have a pretty vivid nightmare if the event except in the dream I’m in the building and I see the jet heading toward me. The dream feels real since I was down there and recognize the smells, sounds etc. It’s been about 5 years since I’ve had that dream but I got it again about a week back. Suffice to say I couldn’t go back to sleep that night

What was also scary about it is at the time my cousin was working at a place right around that area. I remember how frightened and panicked we were when we couldn't reach him through the phone. It was such a relief when we got ahold of him.

My father was a NYC cop. I thought that he went into the tower so I stayed down there until the South Tower felt and I was terrified that he was in there. Thankfully he was still at his precinct working the phones since he had knee surgery a few weeks before and was working behind the desk until he was fully healed

Very happy to hear he was okay that day. It's scary to think the circumstances you or your loved ones could've found yourselves in that day. Sadly so many other people that day weren't so fortunate.

Agreed. My father lost a bunch of his friends fellow cops and regular employees in the towers. A good friend of our family lost her husband. In fact we had gone to their wedding just a month prior which is horrifically sad

I'm so sorry about that. It's still hard to believe it'll be 20 years since it happened, it still feels so fresh in my mind. It was unprecedented.

That's so scary. Real-life is always so much more frightening than fiction. Absolutely true. In fact, horror is derived from real life.
