July 19th marked not only the 25th anniversary of "The Third Pig", but for the purposes of this thread, it marked the day the show ended it's original run on HBO. Do any of you remember when this happened? Was there any fanfare for the show's end or did it just quietly end? I don't know if "The Third Pig" was made with the intention of it being the final episode instead of just being a regular episode. It feels more like a regular episode to me than a final one even though it's animated and different than the other Season 7 episodes. I think I once posted a thread that had scans of a magazine article around the time Season 7 came out. The article talked about the season and the possibility of a Season 8 along with changing the scenery to keep things fresh. I don't believe there was mention of Season 7 being the last season officially. I think HBO, for some crazy reason, cancelled the show even though it was still a success. But a possible reason for HBO cancelling the show may be because it was becoming too expensive to produce. This happened with the HBO show Deadwood which got cancelled on HBO even though it was a success. Of course there was the focus on turning TFTC into a movie franchise starting with Demon Knight and Bordello.

I don't remember catching The Third Pig when it aired on HBO back then nor remember hearing about the final season. I wouldn't be surprised if the show had a bit of a decline in popularity then which combined with Bordello Of Blood being such a bad box office bomb made cancellation an easy decision for the higher-ups at WB.
