The two Unfriended movies are both TFTC-like in a way, for some reason. Although not having an EC-style, there's a bit of a TFTC-like aspect they have. By the end of either movie I could easily see Crypty turning up for his ending monologue.

It definitely has a little bit of TFTC's version of the "you reap what you sow" morality.

Good to hear she's making some progress, hope she continues to make more. It's kind of hard to talk about Hereditary without spoilers, but there are definitely some very TFTC-like aspects of it. I wonder if the director is a fan. Thank you so much, my friend. Though I haven't seen Hereditary, I've seen a few videos revealing spoilers and giving an analysis on the film. And the film really does have some TFTC-like aspects.

Thing is I could totally see Unfriended being a newer TFTC story, with Crypty up to date with modern tech and it being another cautionary EC Horror tale. I'd love to hear his opening and ending monologue for it. I'd attempt it but I'm lousy at puns.

Especially if Crypty making the bad puns and such. I can imagine him saying something like, "Too much Internet will be terror..." or something to that effect.

Reading that has me imagining Crypty using Skype or something like that. Hilarious to imagine. I bet that's how his Unfriended monologue would be too, him Skyping to intro the story, which would be fitting.

Imagine him starting off the episode with the computer flicking on and as you said, he uses Skype as he segues into introducing the story. Though, I think that even on a computer screen, he would still use that huge, dusty storybook of his. Speaking of which, what do you think the TFTC comic book cover for Unfriended would look like?

I think so as well. I think he'd still be using his storybook and even say something to the effect that in this digital age nothing can compare to taking the time to sit down and actually read a book.
Good question. I'd try to try it if I had any artistic skill which I sadly don't possess. I can only imagine what a TFTC comic book cover for Unfriended would look like.

Don't think I mentioned it before, but From Beyond is very TFTC/EC-like in some ways, especially with the lighting which is very reminscent of the coloring used in the classic EC comics. Although adapted from an H.P. Lovecraft story it has a very EC-like aesthetic and style to it. I'm sure Lovecraft's work had to be an influence on the EC writers.

Having picked up the Blu-ray earlier, the recent film Upgrade is somewhat TFTC/EC-like as well from my recollection of my initial viewing in it. It has the feel of something that could've been an issue of one of EC's Sci-Fi comics from back then. The lighting in some scenes is straight out of an EC comic and without spoilers the end twist even is sort of EC-like.

It's funny that you mentioned From Beyond because that was one of the main movies that I had on my TFTC-like Movies list on IMDb. I absolutely agree that that film is very TFTC/EC-like. To me, it's a great balance of horror, science fiction, and erotica which is what the show consists of at times. And yes, I strongly believe that H.P. Lovecraft had influenced the EC writers.

Nothing beats old school in terms of physical books. In terms of the TFTC comic book cover for Unfriended, I could picture Blair screaming and crying while staring at the computer monitor and gripping her laptop, perhaps. That's all I got. What do you think?

I'm not sure if Stuart Gordon (the director of both Re-Animator and From Beyond) has ever said if he was a fan of the EC Horror comics but it wouldn't shock me if he was. He was a kid when they were out and it's very possible he read them and they had a major influence on him when he made Re-Animator and From Beyond. These two films in a way feel like a precursor to the TFTC HBO series. Kind of a shame he never directed a TFTC episode as he would've been a great fit for the show.
Upgrade is a very good movie. I don't want to spoil it for you as it's got some cool twists and surprises in it. It almost in a feels like an EC Sci-Fi tale for the current era.
That sounds like a good idea for the Unfriended TFTC comic cover. It'd be great to get a talented artist who knows how to re-create the classic EC-style artwork to do custom cover artworks for some movies.

Yeah, I'm sure there is someone out there who has great artistic talent and is able to draw in an old-school comic book manner like the EC Comics from the 50s and the guy who worked on the comic book covers in the show.
