Until maybe like 8, 9, or 10 years ago, I never knew that Tales From The Crypt had an animated show spin-off just for kids. I began to watch Tales From The Cryptkeeper on YouTube a few years ago mainly because I was too young to remember the show when it came on, and saw and heard about it online whenever I looked up something related to TFTC. So, I looked it up and watched a few episodes. Admittedly, I thought it was "meh" at first. But after a while, I went back and watched some episodes again and the more I watched, the more I liked the show. It had surprisingly scary episodes and at times, had a little bit of that TFTC factor of the live action show. And what makes it really awesome is that John Kassir also voiced the Cryptkeeper in the show like he did in the live action show. For some reason, that fact alone helps the show and helps connect both shows.
Do any you guys like the cartoon? Or do you think it's okay? Too watered-down? Have a favorite episode or more?

I've always liked this show a lot and think it's a great little companion piece to the live-action show. Is it as good? No, but it's still very entertaining and as you said, still has that TFTC feel and authenticity to it. John back as the voice of Crypty was an awesome touch and I like how the stories are more along the lines of traditional Horror fare. There's some truly awesome episodes that I'd rate nearly on par with the live-action version, such as While The Cat's Away (still wish we'd get a live-action version of it). Plus I really enjoy in Season 3 how Crypty actually factors into the proceedings.

Here's an article around the time the show first aired that talks about the decision of using an animated CK instead of the animatronic one. Adults were concerned about the puppet being too scary or adult for kids.
articles.latimes.com/1993-09-02/entertainment/ca-30916_1_affiliates
"At an affiliates meeting in June in Century City, some station executives were shocked when ABC showed footage of HBO's animatronic Cryptkeeper, a ghoulish corpse with putrid flesh, introducing him as the network's newest kiddie host.
"During the affiliates meeting, some of the general managers expressed concern about the animatronic host," said ABC spokeswoman Patty McTeague. "Although it only represents a minute-and-a-half worth of program time in each episode, they were concerned that it would be too frightening for children.""

I remember reading about that in the TFTC Archives book in the section about the animated show. Strangely enough recycled footage of the live-action Crypty was used during the Kids WB broadcasts back in the early 2000s. The animatronic Crypty was also used in the game show.

Tales From The Cryptkeeper toyline. I had most of those action figures as a kid but sadly lost them over the years, including both Crypt Keepers. I'll re-collect them all again eventually, they're usually not very expensive even carded. Pretty weird and funny how they tried marketing Crypty to kids back then, given how explicit the live-action show was.

It was a pretty cool toyline and it's worth tracking down. Really want them all again, especially the Crypt Keepers. I never had the talking doll, sadly.

It wasn't bad for a watered-down, kid-friendly version of TFTC.

It's still hilarious how they tried to market TFTC and the Crypt Keeper so much to kids back then. There were a lot of good episodes for sure, some of my favorites:
While The Cat's Away Too Cool For School The Works... In Wax Fare Tonight Hyde And Go Shriek Nature Ghost Ship Transylvania Express The Haunted Mine Waste Not, Haunt Not Unpopular Mechanics All The Gory Details Uncle Harry's Horrible House Of Horrors Hunted Imaginary Friend Drawn And Quartered All Booked Up It's For You Town Gathering
To name a few, I enjoyed most if not all of the episodes to varying degrees. There's some I would've liked to have seen adapted for the live-action show, albeit aimed more at an adult audience, of course.
