Definitely some mixed feelings on this. What's with the clips from other non-related Horror films in this? Seeing the brief bit with the animatronic Crypty from Bordello Of Blood was a nice touch though, perhaps a hint we'll see the animatronic Crypty back? I sure hope so, that generic zombie-looking guy in the trailer still can't be the new Crypt Keeper, just... no Edit - original trailer link went offline, put a new one in.

Hmm. I don't know. Assuming this show will be just like it appears in the trailer, it doesn't look like something I'm interested in. Where's the camp? Where's the humor? Where's the B-movie feel? This looks like it may be something that will be too serious. Plus, having it on TNT means watered-down programming as well as commercials. Compare this trailer with the trailer for the 1989 HBO show and it's like they're two different shows. Oh, and I know for sure they couldn't get the rights to the HBO CK so I really doubt it will be on this new show.

The fact it's on TNT and will be heavily toned down content-wise is also a concern. I was all for a TFTC revival but it's hard not to feel this is the wrong way to go about it.

It just doesn't look too good to me. Granted we didn't really see much of it, but what we did see just didn't look right.

Indeed. It feels very generic and just doesn't have that EC feel to it.

I've seen this promo a few nights ago and I'm not too impressed. It's a nice promo but it doesn't scream Tales From The Crypt. It doesn't have that TFTC and EC Comics feel. To me, it feels more like American Horror Story.

Huh, the trailer's been taken down Wonder if the not-too-positive reaction and the show being on-hold was a factor... Put up a new link to the trailer.

Its crazy how fast these trailers and promos blew up when I reported them to Bloody-Disgusting. I didn't expect it to spread the way it did. Despite the reboot being cancelled it does make me curious as to how their approach of the Cryptkeeper would have went. I thought what most did, that the use of the HBO Cryptkeeper clips was a sign that they perhaps got the rights to use the puppet and continue the series in a new format.

I wonder if they couldn't get the rights to the puppet and if that may have been a factor in why the show ultimately didn't move ahead? TFTC without the Crypt Keeper sounds like far too risky a move.

EC Comics isn’t relinquishing the rights for the show or anything related tonit, the puppet included. No idea why.
There could be many reasons(me assuming)
-The show was a hit and EC Comics doesn’t want to ruin the reputation of that show by doing a revival and ruin it.
-Due to the current climate of social media critics, who clamor for appropriate and tasteful programming, they are probably fearful of any sort of offensive material being broadcast, soon followed by a plethora of social media outrage, protests and boycotting. Which, in my personal opinion, could be capitalized by the network that puts out the show. They would basically be doing a television version of what the comics did back in the 50s in terms of social uncomfortability. The 90s version was already good with that, but even the sensitivity level of what gets put out in the media wasn’t as bad as it is now.
-EC Comics feel as though they have no more juice left with the franchise and should just leave it as is.
-They probably didn’t like the direction that TNT and Shyamalan were going.

I wouldn't think the show being too graphic content-wise would've been an issue, given what networks are getting away with these days. It's very likely M. Night's approach couldn't have sat well and maybe EC didn't care for his approach. It's also possible there were some other things that weren't meshing well.
