I've always liked it a lot and as a kid tolerated it much more than the HBO series due to the absence of the rotted Crypt Keeper. My favorite story was probably Poetic Justice.

Oh yeah, I remember as a little kid when my father bought the vhs and he promised me that the hideous Cryptkeeper puppet was nowhere to be found in it.

The movie is still quite scary but as a kid it was a tolerable scary for me without the animatronic Crypt Keeper.
The uber-eerie organ score is definitely one of my favorite aspects of it. Perfect music for a Halloween event.

I also liked the sequel, The Vault Of Horror. Not as good but still entertaining.
