Rules Of The Crypt

Just a simple set of rules that every member must follow:
1. Be nice and respectful to everyone onboard. Having an opinion or disagreement over something is one thing, but please do so in a civil and mature manner. Don't be rude or insulting to someone simply for having an opinion different from yours. Along those lines, if you have a personal issue with another member, please take it up with them in PMs. Don't let it spill out onto the board.
2. Swearing is allowed on here, but please refrain from doing so in an offensive manner and please refrain from using offensive slurs. We're really not into censorship here and once or twice can be overlooked, but there's a line, and making racist, sexist, and/or homophobic remarks crosses it. Things like that, along with any hate speech (ie. speaking to someone rudely, swearing at them, name-calling, etc.) will not be tolerated.
3. Don't post every message entirely in capital letters, as it signifies yelling and is annoying to many members. Also, please keep any leet or text speak to a minimum.
4. If you see an offensive or insulting post before it's been taken care of, please don't add to the problem by responding to whoever is causing it, just report it to me or another staff member and we'll take care of it.
5. When discussing movies or stories, make sure you use spoiler warnings to avoid spoiling major plot points or twists for the readers. Use of spoiler tags is strongly encouraged and actually a requirement when discussing major twists or plot points.
6. When making posts heavy with a large number of graphics or embedded videos, please use the spoiler tags so the images or videos don't take up a large amount of space on the browser, as it can make viewing certain threads distracting and also slow down users' computers.
7. Likewise, please be mindful of how many images you use in your signatures and how large they are; overly large signature images (ie. the kind that take up an entire screen and also cause the grab bar to expand) aren't allowed.
8. This may be a sensitive topic, but please keep suicide threats, or any other threats for that matter, out of the public forum. It's no secret that we're a pretty close knit community, and all of us are willing to lend support to our friends here, but blatant suicide threats make some people very uncomfortable and end up causing an uproar and more drama, which this fandom definitely doesn't need.
9. Likewise, threats of death and violence are also not wanted on this board and they will be cracked down on. While some non-violent venting is allowable, to be overly hostile and display frequent negative and violent thoughts on the board (ie. "I hate this person so much and hope they die horribly" or "I want to give this person a beating") is unacceptable and will make the board and the community look bad, and it also disturbs and upsets many members. Venting your anger is allowable, but please try not to be overly violent with it, since this is a community that frowns upon violence of any sort. If you simply must vent violently, keep it to private messages or elsewhere that isn't on here.
10. On the subject of banning, it's not something we want to do, but don't think that means that we'll hesitate to go that far if we have to. Hopefully, we'll eventually get a system of warnings, and maybe temp-bans set up, but until then be warned that if you take something too far, you will be permanently banned.
11. When having registered, please make productive posts as soon as you register, so we can be assured you're a legititmate member and not a potential troll, spy or spammer if you have an account here and it remains inactive upon registration. New accounts inactive after fifteen days will be deleted and an e-mail will be sent to the user to notify them of such. Prior though, the user will be warned via e-mail to make posts or risk account deletion.
Other basic rules to follow and keep in mind when posting and contributing to this community:
1. DON'T use "um," be snotty to another poster, or make the argument personal.
2. DO know the difference between differences of opinion and personal attacks
3. DON'T present your opinions as facts.
4. DON'T post the same opinion over and over in the hopes of wearing other people down or "winning" a discussion; just move on.
We also have a "Three Strikes" rule that it enforces fairly yet firmly here. In the event members that are troublesome or disruptive to this community consistantly break any of the above rules, the members will be suspended three times and for varying periods of time. The first suspension will likely be for a week, while the second and third suspension will be much longer, upwards of multiple weeks to even a month. After three suspensions, this is the member's last chance to clean up and obey the rules once and for all before more strict and firm action is taken if they break the rules. The more strict and firm action? The member is permanently banned from here for life, no questions asked. The member was given three chances to get their act together and be a productive and civil member and contributor to the community, and to blow all three chances only proves that the member is a troublemaker who doesn't seek to contribute positively to this board at all.
Furthermore, creating multiple accounts is not only against board rules, but it's even more of an offense if a suspended or banned member creates another account as a means of bypassing a suspension or ban. Suspended members who create multiple accounts will have their suspensions extended. We here hope to never take such actions, but if the situation calls for it, you can be assured that we will.
That's all for now. Enjoy your stay here and enjoy posting, while abiding to all of the above rules. These rules aren't meant to be mean or restrictive of course, just to ensure that we have a peaceful and pleasant online community where everybody gets along well and for this place to be a nice haven for Tales From The Crypt fans everywhere
