Had anybody else seen this underrated 80’s slasher from the 80’s. I watched it many years ago and enjoyed it. I just rewatched it recently on prime and really enjoyed it. It’s got a decent following. Admittedly it follows the usual slasher tropes HOWEVER unlike most staggers it’s has a gothic/haunted house feel to it. It also reminded me a little of Television Terror from TFTC. Also unlike most slashers it doesn’t have much gore and no nudity which is ironic because the director, Tom DeSimone got started directing porno Movies then later women prison pictures like Concrete Jungle and Reform School Girls. It’s also has a gray Blu-ray of Hell Night from Shout Factory loaded with extras

I've heard of this film but don't believe I've ever seen it, or maybe I have but don't remember it. The title is nearly identical to a film called Happy Hell Night which came out in the early 90s and was on cable a lot back in the day.

I'll likely just blind buy the Blu-ray at some point as I already own a bunch of Scream Factory's titles and they've done an amazing job for the most part with their releases. Even with some of the movies they've released that may not be so good the special features alone are well worth it.

I'll give it a look. If nothing else it's another addition to my ever-growing Scream Factory collection. I dig slasher films so I'm sure I'll get something out of it.

I've known of that. I'm not sure if I ever saw this film. I know I've seen the nearly identically-titled Happy Hell Night, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who's ever confused the two.

I’ve never seen Happy Hell Night but I can see why it’s confusing since the titles are so similar. To be honest I’m not a big slasher fan other than Halloween and Black Christmas. I liked this because it has that gothic feel

Yeah I think so. It’s kind of a slow burn. That’s the only drawback some might have with it. Personally I like slow burn movies because it has more character development. Acting isn’t great but it’s ok

I don't mind a film being slow-moving as long as it's interesting with the characters and the story. If it's slow to the point it drags and becomes boring then it's a problem.

Personally I don’t think it’s slow. It does build up the suspense though

Build-up is fine if it's handled right. Just non-stop scares can get tiresome after a while, there needs to be an escalation to it first.

Agreed. That’s why I hate non stop jump scares because it becomes predictable and loses the effect
