The first of the TFTC Presents films. What's your take on it?
I've always been a big fan of it and think it was an awesome way to bring TFTC to the big screen. It plays out like a hybrid of Evil Dead and Night Of The Living Dead with a big EC streak to it. It's scary and funny, has a plethora of excellent practical creature and make-up effects that are still impressive 22 years later and boasts an entertaining cast spearheader by William Sadler and Billy Zane who are both excellent as the respective hero and villain, and of course who can forget Dick Miller. It has the feel of being a live-action Horror comic. It's a shame it wasn't more successful back then but in subsequent years it's been rightfully appraised and revered. Among my favorite Horror films and one that's always entertaining and high on the rewatchbility.

Watching this again recently this still holds up very well and is always a fun watch. Has the EC feel to a T. Was definitely a great way to bring TFTC to the movies.

Plus the demon designs in it all look great. Appropriately scary and evil-looking as you'd expect a demon to be. Good thing the studio opted to change the original concept, which had men in suits with evil eyes as the demons. What a lame idea that was.

Those demons in the film are the stuff of nightmares! I'm not gonna lie. They truly scared me. I especially hate it when some of the main characters end up turning into similar looking creatures Billy Zane's character would influence them. Yikes!

That's another aspect DK succeeds at, barring Roach you actually like the people and feel sad when they die. The DK demons were a great and unique take.
Speaking of Roach, what a douche. He was responsible for so much of what happened. I'm always reminded of what an ass his character is every time I watch DK.

Except that asshole, Roach. Imo, he deserved WORSE.
Most of the others were either ravaged by the EVIL that turned them into demonic creatures and had to be killed or they chose to sacrifice themselves. Also, it was a bold ass move for this film to show the onscreen death of a child.

Roach just had nothing redeemable or likeable about him at all. He's the kind of character you're begging to see get gruesomely killed in a slasher film. He made the bad situation so much worse with how he destroyed the barrier in the basement allowing the demons to pour through and then cleaned up the upstairs seal. The way he treated Cordelia was just reprehensible too and he was a coward with how he left her. Wally had issues, but at least he was selfless with how he came to save Cordelia and didn't hesitate to try to attack the demons, and he genuinely cared about her. Hell, Roach is the kind of character who normally got their just desserts in a typical TFTC story.
Danny's death in the film was pretty horrific. Kids dying in movies really isn't as taboo as you might think as there's other examples of it I can think of, but his death was especially pretty horrendous. And it even looked painful when he transformed into his demonic form.

As a Metalhead I also have a lot of love for the soundtrack. So many great Rock/Metal tunes on there. A soundtrack has to be good when Pantera is on there.
