Comedic actors usually transition very well to more serious roles. It probably has to do with Comedy actually being pretty difficult to do and requiring a degree of seriousness, so it acts as a springboard for more serious roles later.

Another example of a comedic actor transitioning into a dramatic role was John Ritter RIP. His work in Sling Blade was terrific

R.I.P. John Ritter. Still so sad he's gone, it was such a shock. He did well both serious and funny roles equally. I watched him in Bride Of Chucky just the other night.

Yeah I still remember the day He died I was a senior in high school and really grew up with him. I grew up watching reruns of Three’s Company and watching Problem Child. He also proved to be a very good actor as well as a good man from all accounts

I remember him well for Problem Child 1 and 2, and also the It mini-series. Still such a sad and shocking loss two decades later. He would've been great for a TFTC episode and it's a shame he never did one, though he did do voice work in an episode of the short-lived TFTC audio series.

I still enjoy the 1990 It mini-series along with the newer adaptations we've gotten. It was very scary for it's day.

Yeah despite the fact that it was a limited budget and it was on network tv they still did a good job of making it very eerie especially the scene in Beverly’s old house

Also that it was heavily censored from how much more gruesome the novel is, but that forced the makers of it to concentrate more on being scary and atmospheric, which they succeeded at very well. Parts of the 1990 version are still quite eerie and frightening even today. And of course Tim Curry for decades has been so iconic as Pennywise and continues to be so.

I caught JFK on tv not too long ago and forgot about John Candy. She ch a great comedian but he short but great dramatic performance in JFK was impressive. Also he did another dramatic role in Only the Lonely

I miss John Candy. Talented writer and comedian, and he also did well with the few serious roles he got.

One my favorites. I believe recently was the 30 year anniversary of his death. I still remember when it was announced and was sad. As a kid I was going yo see Home Alone Uncle Buck. Also seeing Only the Lonely in a different role for him

A shame he was never in a TFTC episode, I'm sure he would've been good in one. Comedic actors usually transition well into more serious roles including Horror. I don't think he ever really did any Horror if I'm not mistaken, but I'm sure he would've been good.

Yeah I would have to check his filmography but I think you’re right he never did horror.

I'm sure he would've done fine had he made the transition. Comedic actors often do well when tackling more serious roles and I don't think he would've been any different. Perhaps had he lived and TFTC went on for some more seasons he might've done at least one episode.
