I always enjoyed this episode but I rarely see fans speak about it much. The main character might be the most evil person in the show’s run which is saying something. Directed by Jack Sholder who I think is very underrated as a director. He is most known for Nightmare on Elm Street 2 but my favorite films of his are The Hidden and Alone in the Dark

Love this episode and it's among my favorites of the show. Has arguably the most loathesome antagonist of the series with Ezra, who's brilliantly portrayed by the late, great Moses Gunn. He really makes you despise his character to the point you want to kill him, yourself. I also enjoy Jack Sholder's work as a director, with The Hidden being my favorite film of his. Shame he didn't direct more TFTC episodes.
Also notable for being co-written by Don Mancini, one of the creators of Child's Play and Chucky.

Absolutely. I heard a interview with Jack Sholder who says it was on the rare times where the producers saw his cut and wanted nothing changed. It actually freaked him out to the point that he made a few small changes anyway that he regrets. But it shows that they gave the directors a lot of freedom which is mostly not the case in tv

He would've also been a good fit for Showtime's series, Masters Of Horror. While not as prolific as the likes of John Carpenter and Wes Craven (R.I.P.), he nevertheless made his share of notable and respectable Horror efforts.

Agreed. Honestly there were some directors on the Masters of Horror who really shouldn’t have been directing those episodes. Sholder definitely should have

He would've been a good choice. He would've surely been better than some other directors on there who while not bad aren't who I'd call a Master Of Horror by any stretch.

It's probably somewhere in my top ten as well. One of my very favorites, and pretty high on the rewatchability, too.
