Well here we are. The day we've all been waiting for since the beginning of the year. The 30th anniversary of the TV show "Tales From The Crypt". It's amazing how one show has done so much in just seven years on HBO and beyond. We've had an animated show, feature films, a game show, merchandise, a music video, etc. And thanks to this show, we have this little site to call our own and talk everything TFTC.
Here's to 30 years and many more!
A little trip back to 1989 with The CryptKeeper introducing the first season:

Happy 30th, TFTC! My favorite show of all-time and despite of how much it terrified and traumatized me as a child, as an adult I can enjoy and appreciate just what a truly excellent show it is and how well it stands the test of time. We wouldn't be here talking about it three decades later if it wasn't good. So many of the episodes are still immensely entertaining and the Crypt Keeper remains one of the most iconic and recognizable figures in all of Horror. Hard to believe it's now 30 years old, I'd hardly older than it having been born two years prior, and it's surely going to endure the test of time.

30 years and STILL GOING STRONG! It's arguably the BEST HBO show ever!!! HBO may be unnecessarily ashamed of the show now but there are SO MANY people who STILL LOVE this show!

It's really unfortunate how HBO treats TFTC these days like something of an unwanted stepchild. It doubtlessly was one of their flagship shows back then and helped them thrive. But at least the fans keep it alive and strong three decades later.

But at least the fans keep it alive and strong three decades later. Indeed!!! It's insulting that HBO won't even acknowledge TFTC and as you said, it helped them thrive! They ought to be ashamed of themselves for ignoring this show and its legacy. And yes, at least the fans are keeping it alive. If a show that came out in 1989 is STILL POPULAR, that should show you that that show still holds up extremely well. Unlike most of the other HBO shows in the past and present. With this show, there's something so charming, exciting, and thrilling about it that attracts a lot of people to it.

There's some newer HBO shows I hardly ever see talked about if ever, whereas TFTC is still remembered fondly by so many and always finding new fans. That right there says it all about it's legacy.

Aside from Game Of Thrones it seems HBO doesn't have that many shows that the general public seems to much talk about, at least from what I see. Then again I'm not too into a lot of modern shows these days. GOT honestly seems to be the only modern HBO show that's even remotely comparable to TFTC in terms of popularity.

THIS! ^ But now, even Game of Thrones is no longer being looked at as the greatest show ever thanks to the crappy AF season 8. GOT has now left a bad taste in people's mouths thanks to horrible writing, rushed pacing, and biting off way more than can chew. It's a shame.

Really a shame how neither TFTC or GOT had better series finales, but at least The Third Pig isn't the worst final episode to have, in TFTC's case.

Really a shame how neither TFTC or GOT had better series finales, but at least The Third Pig isn't the worst final episode to have, in TFTC's case. Exactly. I don't know why GOT's last season was given six episodes. SIX EPISODES FOR THE FINAL SEASON OF WHAT WAS ONCE DEEMED "THE GREATEST SHOW EVER". That's NO WHERE NEAR ENOUGH episodes to properly wrap up the show. In fact, I heard that HBO actually gave the show's writers more episodes and seasons for the show. But, the writers rejected HBO's offer and decided to do just six episodes and that's it. It's possible that one of the main reasons why the writers wanted six episodes is because they wanted to be done with the show once and for all, and move on to making their Star Wars movie for Disney. Another possible reason is that George R.R. Martin is still trying to write the rest of the books and didn't give them the plot layouts. Whatever the reason, it had proven to be a major disaster for the show which is unfortunate. And I totally agree about TFTC's final season also not being so good. At least the last episode was memorable and some fans enjoyed it. Imo, there were a few decent episodes in the final season such as The Fatal Caper, Last Respects, Horror in the Night, and About Face.

I haven't seen GOT, but fans all over are absolutely furious with the finale. I'm in disbelief to hear the final season was only six episodes, which is asinine for a final season of such a beloved show. Why would you end a show on such a rushed, bad note like that? I can't say I blame fans for being upset.
I still say if you took half of the good episodes of Season 6 and the other half of Season 7 that were good, you'd have a decent and acceptable sixth and final season. There's some diamonds in the rough amidst the lackluster final two seasons.

I know exactly what it's like to be left disappointed by a franchise you love. I don't blame fans for being upset at all. And the fact that HBO and the writers are doubling down on what just happened makes it even more awful. Now, they're filming the GOT prequel and fans don't care anymore. I absolutely agree about the last two seasons of TFTC. Both seasons had episodes that were not too good and they had episodes that were outstanding. HBO is dead wrong for ignoring a great show that is TFTC. If it wasn't great, how come we and many other people are still talking and raving about it to this day?
