It's sad how once quality networks like MTV and Discovery went so downhill because of the reality TV craze. Discovery is only ever worth watching nowadays when they do Shark Week and even that's gone downhill, with how they seem more concerned with having a bunch of nobody celebrities than trying to promote science and shark conservation. Nickelodeon in more recent times has at least been making an effort to reach out to their 90s-era fans.

I feel bad for the younger generation who are force fed reality tv and social media garbage. Thankfully my kids enjoy watching older shows/films.

Same for me. There's still quite a few films and shows and other entertainment from the New Millennium I enjoy, but for the most part the 80s and 90s is my jam.

It says something how so many films from the 80s and 90s, and even before that, are still very rewatchable and still resonate to this day.

Many of the films from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s are absolutely rewatchable and resonate with many people. I would often tell my mother how sad I am that so many films nowadays, even though there are still a few good films released, are horrible because the quality is atrocious and they're doing things like injecting poisonous politics into the mix. At least the films decades ago put a lot of effort into their stories and characters. Don't get me wrong. There has always been bad films. But the fact that there's more of them nowadays than usual is troubling. We need to focus on good quality and art than BS like poisonous politics.

Another thing I miss about the 90s is the balance of technology. Back then it felt like technology advanced just enough to make things easier but not so much that it became so dominant in our lives. Nowadays with people texting and tweeting non-stop and doing things like selfies and Tik Tok, it's just... ugh.

Even the internet was in its infancy stage basically so not many user it especially kids. The only cell phones we had were those big Nokia phones but you could only use limited minutes per month so kids barely used or even had a phone. Big Tech had unfortunately taken over the whole world with drastically negative effects IMO

I’m also a classic film fan so films of the 40’s-60’s are right up my alley. But yeah since the 90’s filmmaking has taken a bad turn with all the corporations and social media basically taking over. I 1000% agree with your final sentence. They are now poisoning the minds of audiences(especially kids) with their ideologies

I miss the simplicity of the old days for sure. It feels like technology has gotten far too dominant and even outright intrusive. Watching the Dominos Pizza commercial that showed the driverless delivery car, while that's a good idea in theory it doesn't seem practical in real-life and like it's a disaster waiting to happen with all that could go wrong. Even in a technologically advancing world, there's things better done the old-fashioned way.

Yeah I miss the simplicity. I miss doing things face to face. Now everything is electronically or through an iPhone

I still find it ridiculous that you can use your phone to pour soda for you at some soda fountains in places like restaurants or movie theaters. I mean come on.

Yeah it’s gotten out of control. I’m very old school. When I order food out I still call the place directly instead of grub hub or whatever

Same here. I'm used to doing things the old-fashioned way. My cell phone is a flip phone and I have no need for something like an iPhone. There's times it's tempting to want to upgrade though when I do long work shifts and want to keep myself entertained when on my breaks and waiting to go home. But I like how I've kept myself in-check in that regards.
