I'm honestly surprised it hasn't been done yet, but I wonder if it's been to avoid a negative response from fans who always want to see the same thing over and over.

I'm also surprised that it hasn't been done yet. And I agree that perhaps DC is trying to avoid any negative responses from it. But, they should at least try something different. I think it's about time that aspect of the Batman mythos should be explored.

They'd be smart to do it as a comic book. Batman always capturing the likes of The Joker and bringing him back to Arkham over and over gets unbelievable quickly.

And especially when The Joker only gets worse and worse with what he does. It gets to a point a limit has to be reached.

Btw, speaking of The Joker, did you hear that the MPAA officially had given the upcoming film an R rating?

Awesome news to hear. I'm looking more forward to the film now that it's officially an R and we'll finally get to see an unrestrained Joker.

I'm so happy that this film and even The Shining sequel, Doctor Sleep are rated R. And it's a shame that I have to say this because there are a lot of films that are rated R that don't get the attention and promotion they deserve because their films aren't targeted towards children, and some of them are genuinely good movies.

There's R-rated films that are still successful, such as the 2017 It. I can't wait for Chapter 2, which is looking amazing so far.

We know that PG-13 rated movies make way more than R rated movies. But that doesn't take away from the fact that there are R rated movies that are finacially successful and popular among a lot of older people. Judging by the recent successes of R rated movies in the last few years and how a lot of the upcoming films are R rated, it shows that people still crave these R rated films.

The numbers for It in 2017 showed that audiences still have interest in R-rated films and demand it. Certain characters and properties can only properly be done if they've got the freedom of the R rating.

It, the first two Deadpool films, and the John Wick movies have shown that people do demand more huge R rated movies. I hope that It: Chapter 2 is also a success. And that goes for The Joker and Doctor Sleep.

Same here. It: Chapter 2 is likely to be a success and if it is, one can only hope we see a further resurgence of R-rated films.

There definitely needs to be a further resurgence of R-rated films. Older teenagers and adults deserve to be catered to as well and need more good, fun R rated movies. Especially since logistically speaking, they're the ones that have the money. The children would have to get the money from them! So, why not cater to older audiences like they did decades ago.
It's gotten so bad to the point where people are worried if a horror film, action films, and even certain comic book films are going to be rated PG-13 or rated R. And it shouldn't have to come to this. If the films were originally conceived as R rated, they should remain that way. Same goes for PG-13 rated films.

Absolutely. And if PG-13 wants to upgrade to R that's fine by me, but something that's conceived as an R-rated property should always remain as such and there's never, ever a situation where downgrading works once you're an R.
