I think even in this technologically advanced age there's still a need for old-school methods and means like yellow pages.

Absolutely.

I'm not against technological advancements in fields where it's both needed and justified, but to use a phone app for things like pouring soda out of a fountain? Seems pointless to me.

I’ve been looking through old photos/Polaroids of my childhood and that’s another thing I miss. Nowadays you just take your iPhone out and take a selfie which I honestly don’t like. I miss the Polaroid cameras.

I remember Polaroid cameras. We owned quite a few back in the day.

As the days go by I always think about how better things were in the 90’s. More than anything I wish my kids could have experienced their youth in that era. Luckily I have very well adjusted kids who block out a lot of the bad things the suicidal media age has brought but I wish they could have experienced it. Honestly I can’t think of one thing that is better now vs then whether it’s movies, music, schools, etc.

I miss the days when social media wasn't a thing, I'll say that much. It may be hypocritical and ironic of me to say, but I also kind of miss when forums didn't exist. There's some great ones (and obviously this is one), but it seems lots of internet forums attract so much negativity and hostility. Some of the ones I've been a member of in the past (and feel so foolish for having been as such) I regret I was ever a member of and wonder how and why I stayed so long.

It’s not hypocritical at all. I think you do a great job with this forum unlike so many others. You keep things positive which is always the best way. But I agree I miss the days before social media, iphones, or even before the internet became a big thing

Thank you, I do my best. And same here. I don't even like to go to sites like Ain't It Cool News or Bloody Disgusting which have incredibly toxic user communities there. To be insulted and ridiculed all for liking or not liking certain films and be told you're not a true fan, have bad taste, etc. life is too short to be dealing with people like this. I honestly like how this community is small yet still peaceful and people get along even if they don't always agree on everything. It's far preferable than to have a forum with hundreds or thousands of members where there's non-stop fighting, trolling, etc.

Absolutely. That’s why I only post here. I used to post at a few different places but like you said it’s become very toxic especially the past few years. I still prefer talking face to face because it forces people to either show more respect or makes it easier to read people. Either way I miss the days when you can only talk yo your friends by the home phone.

I miss those days, too. It's strange how communications technology has actually divided people rather than united them. It's a double-edged sword.

Technology is dangerous. I know it sounds weird to say that but it’s been proven to be a fact

It seems we've seen the dark side of it in more recent times, and it's scary.

Yeah I’d love anything to have just a few days in the 1990-96 era again

While the internet is great for many things it feels like too often the negative and dark traits of it really cloud it overall.
